Mass shootings, like Uvalde, are not the main reason that guns have become the leading cause of death among children. Gang wars and day-to-day street crime are the reasons, and the perps and victims are overwhelmingly urban Black people.

"Black teens aged 14-17 commit gun homicide at more than 10x the rate of White + Hispanic teens combined."
    https://nypost.com/2022/05/26/blm-is-silent-on-the-top-killer-of-black-kids-gang-violence/

I predict that this demographic of shooters will be very little affected by new, stricter laws.

And their targets are mostly other Black teens:
"Black youth aged 10-17 were killed at 11x the rate of white youth in 2020." ibid

But, "Children under age 10 [are] also mowed down in drive-by shootings." ibid (with 12 examples from 2020)

We have had more mass shootings since Uvalde than what you have here.

And let's try this. You put up every example you can find of someone defending themselves with a gun and I will just post gun accidents. That would be a way to test your theory that guns make us safer.

      Do you agree?

    re: @stumbler's 3 posts (2 posts up):

The Philadelphia shooting had multiple shooters firing into a crowd; none were caught by police.

The El Paso shooting was at a graduation party of "about 100 teens and young adults"; few details have been released but shell casings from multiple guns were recovered, probably indicating multiple shooters in a targeted attack.

The Phoenix shooting also started at a “large gathering” of roughly 100 people at a mall where a fight broke out and escalated into shooting. Strangely, it was after midnight; how many malls are open after midnight ?

I'll be watching as details come out to see if the cause of any or all of these was kids in gangs!

However, they also tend to ignore inconvenient facts.

You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? I’m talking about all the mass shootings that never happened because of an armed citizen on the scene who put an end to the threat before it could get the evil ball rolling.

People like this West Virginia woman who stopped what could have become a mass shooting just a day after Uvalde.

Well, but your question was when was " When was the last mass shooting committed by a black person?"
    So Shooter answered your question.
    You are welcome.

    But, while we're discussing ...............

    And males, anon.
    Don't forget males.
Virtually every mass murder in history was committed by males.
    And over 21.
Virtually every mass murder in history was committed by people over 21.

So tell you what, lets ban all white males over the age of 21 from owning assault rifles.
And while we're at it, lets ban all rifles, and hand guns and ammunition and whatever else biden thinks should be banned.

Cause everyone knows, the despicables don't want to take away our guns, they just want to take away our rights.

Poll: Americans overwhelmingly prioritize gun control over ownership rights

Seventy percent of Americans think enacting new gun control laws should take precedence over protecting ownership rights, according to an ABC News/Ipsos poll out Sunday.

Why it matters: The findings indicate widespread support for stricter gun control laws in the wake of mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, Uvalde, Texas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The big picture: On the flip side, 29% of respondents believe protecting the right to own a wide variety of guns should be a higher priority than enacting new gun control laws, the poll suggests .

    • The gap between the two positions has widened by 9 points since March 2021, when the same poll found that 66% of people favored new gun control laws, while 34% preferred protecting gun ownership rights.
The results were split along partisan lines, with 90% of Democrats and 75% of independents surveyed prioritizing new gun laws. Fifty-six percent of Republicans in the poll said protecting gun ownership rights takes priority.

    • Thirty-five percent of respondents approved of President Biden's handling of gun violence, an increase from when the question was asked in January and December.
State of play: Both parents and children are concerned about gun violence in schools, according to a new CBS News poll released Sunday.

    • Among parents of school-aged kids, 72% described themselves as very or somewhat concerned about the possibility gun violence at their children's schools.
    • Large majorities of parents of school-aged children described themselves as sad, scared, nervous and angry in the wake of the Uvalde mass shooting at Robb Elementary School.
    • Nearly one-third of parents said their children worry "a lot" about gun violence at school, and more than half of the parents surveyed said their children felt scared and sad in the wake of the Uvalde shooting.
Worth noting: Seventy-two percent of respondents in the ABC News/Ipsos poll said they viewed gun violence as extremely or very important in determining their votes in the upcoming midterms.

    • Seventy-four percent of those surveyed saw gas prices as extremely or very important, while taxes (67%) and abortion (63%) were also standout issues.
Methodology: This ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted June 3-4 by Ipsos using the probability-based KnowledgePanel®. The poll is based on a nationally representative probability sample of 542 adults age 18 or older. The margin of sampling error is ±4.8 percentage points at the 95% confidence level, for results based on the entire sample of adults.

This CBS News/YouGov survey was conducted June 1-3 with a nationally representative sample of 2,021 U.S. adults. The margin of sampling error is ±2.6 points at a 95% confidence level.

    Excellent.
All we need to do now is hold a constitutional convention and toss the 2nd amendment out.

    1. BigSuzyB
No, the states should have militias just like the 2nd amendment says.
The militias are made up citizens with rights to bear arms while on call or duty.
The framers of the 2nd amendment had something more like the Swiss model in mind.
State protection from possible tyranny of an over zealous Federal government.
Nothing wrong with the 2nd amendment except what the NRA says it means.

Well, but those self defense incidents are "gun violence"right?
And of course, if we didn't have any fuck heads shooting up innocent people we wouldn't need upstanding citizens shooting those fuck heads, eh?

But say lets just take away everyones guns, problem solved, right?

Course, that would violate the 2nd amendment, wouldn't it?

But you shouldn't have much problem with that, since you consider America to be a "shithole country" eh?

You can take guns from law abiding citizens all you want, It will not be that big of a curve in the statistics, because most of the clowns doing these crimes are criminals that can not legally posses a firearm. . This shit isn't going away.. The nut jobs will find a new way to make the front page of the paper or news.
If they want attention maybe we should give it to them, I'm all for public exactions for crimes like this. I do not get why these assholes do what they do and I really don't much care.
In the end I am willing to bet when they are remembered for their begging and pleading. This will make more of an impact on the up and comers. and I'm not talking injections or the chair, I would send them out with every bit of fear that their victims had when the passed.
A firearm is the tool only, a tool that just about anyone that wants one can get. It's a hell of a lot harder to get a legal gun than it is a stolen one, and way cheaper for a stolen one.
In the end you have cops on one side and criminals on the other, and guess whos in the Middle, the law abiding citizen that is left helpless because chicken shits just wanted to make the bad thing go away. The bad thing is the the murderer that PULL THE TRIGGER. not the gun.

But hey when the guns are gone, you can build a little package for about 20 or 30 bucks that can really do some damage. then what? Ban fertilizers and other things that make your life a little better.

Deal with the PROBLEM (the trigger pullers) not the weapons. Hell if no one wants to deal with these clowns I will volunteer to make sure our kids a safe, and I am willing to bet the next clown that thinks about this crap will at least worry about what he has coming to him in the end.

Most of the mass shootings have been committed by "law abiding citizens", at least up to the point where they pulled the trigger.

That is because mental illness is not against the law... However, that doesn't mean these people were not breaking laws prior to shooting people. In most of the current cases, many warning signs were ignored....

How many of these shooters have been witnessed by their peers to have been mentally disturbed?....many...that's the answer...many....

There many variables that have lead up to mass shootings...yet you big government hack fucks still wish to blame the gun.

What with all the debate around here one would think that Americans can't agree on solutions.
    According to a CBS poll, that isn't the case, at least as far as generally what needs to be done;
CBS News poll: Can mass shootings be prevented, and if so, how? (yahoo.com)
