Farmers & villages are at the "heart of this year's budget", Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on February 1. The statement came amid a red-hot debate over farmers' income that is sweeping several states including Punjab and Haryana. PM Modi called the budget “transparent”. PM Modi described it as a “pro-active Budget” that boosts wealth as well as wellness.
