Escape from the Demon Pits!
A Man from our World has to Escape from Another
Chapter 1
by Kizonu
One day, as your walking home from work, you decide to stop by a used bookstore to browse around and maybe find a new book to read before you go to bed each night. The smell of musty pages greets you as you step into the shop, as does the sight of shelf after shelf of old books, many leather bound, placed all throughout the shop. You look around, taking all the sights of the bookshop in, and as you do you notice that behind the main counter, where an old man sits, you see several rare looking items. There's a sword hung up on a rack there, as well as several huge gemstones that look real. But more than anything else the thing that catches your eye is a huge leather and metal bound book, inlaid with what look like rubies. As you stare at this treasure of a time, you notice the shopkeeper look at you and chuckle.
"See something you like there?" The old man grins at you after he finishs speaking. You nod and point at the book that's caught your eye.
"What is that book? It looks like nothing I've ever seen."
"That there is what's called a spell book sonny. Specifically, that's the time of Azerack the Infernal a mage that was known for conjuring and making deals with demons." You stare at the old man for a moment and see no sign that he's joking. He must be, that or he's crazy. Seemingly unperturbed by your stare the old man continues. "It's not for sale sonny but I'll let you take a look at it if you want." You think about it for a second and then nod. After all what harm could it do? It's not like it's a real spell book. The old man takes the book down off the shelf behind him and places it in front of you. Upon closer inspection the cover is even more elaborate than you thought. With twisted metal weaved into a tapestry that depicts demonic forms engaged in some sort of ritual. You open the book and see all manner of runes and diagrams written on yellowed parchment. You have to give it to whoever made this, it looks authentic. As you keep turning pages your gaze falls on a particular sigil, a nine pointed star with shadowy tendrils weaving in and around it. The old man notices your interest and speaks. "I wouldn't touch that one if I were you sonny. That'll send you straight to the demon pits of Acarosz." You roll your eyes at him. This old man is getting on your nerves, surely proving him wrong will make him stop, and so you place your finger on the sigil and as you're about to shoot the man a smug grin the world falls away from you.

You can vaguely feel motion when you come to. A terrible pulling sensation that tugs at you from all sides, but mostly pulls you by the heads and shoulders. All around you are bright scintillating colors that suddenly begin to give way to darker browns and dull reds, and then as you approach what looks like a bright red ripple in front of you you feel a squeezing sensation and black out once again.

When you awaken you find yourself on a dusty stone slab, face down. It's uncomfortably hot wherever you are and as you push yourself up off the ground you see it. Before you sits a great sea of fire, or more accurately lava. It stretches out across the horizon fading into the far distance as everything becomes smoky haze. Above the lava sea is a dark sky, looking like the ceiling of a cavern. What catches your attention most though is that the small rocky outcropping out find yourself on gives way to a small stone path towards an island in the lava sea to the front of you, and on that island is a castle made of a black shiny stone, it's banners flying red and regal looking, and it's towers reaching high towards the ceiling of the cave your in. Behind you there appears to be some sort of jungle, filled with all manner of strange plants you don't recognize and with plenty of room for all manner of beasts to roam freely. What do you do?
