Paige Bueckers offered Juju Watkins so much support after tearing her ACL

News about Juju Watkins' torn ACL was absolutely devastating for just about everyone, from fans of the game to her peers on the basketball court.

Count UConn's Paige Bueckers among those peers.

Bueckers and UConn may have been able to face Watkins and USC in the Elite 8 if both teams had advanced out of the Sweet 16. Now, even if both teams were to advance, Watkins obviously wouldn't be playing because of her injury. The UConn vs. USC matchup was one of the most highly anticipated matches of the tournament. Losing Watkins not only impacts the tournament, but all of women's basketball.

As someone who has experienced a torn ACL herself, Bueckers knows exactly where Watkins is mentally. She knows how cruel basketball can be.

That's exactly why Bueckers took a chance to show Watkins so much love and support ahead of UConn's next game.

"I've reached out to her just offering my support, my prayers." Bueckers said. "We've exchanged numbers now, so we're locked in, and whatever she needs mentally, physically, she needs to vent, ask questions. It's a long process and you learn a lot about yourself and about life through it. Just being there to offer my support and, I guess, as much experience and wisdom as I've gotten over the years."

That's an incredibly kind gesture from Bueckers. What a player. What a person.
